I just discovered a techno band based in Regensburg, Germany because of a viral video of a song where they incorporated an electric sewing machine. It was humorous but also interesting. Since I was in Regensburg last year, I wanted to look into them some more. I am glad that I did. They are called Klangphonics.
Here is what I found out about them online:
By using a combination of acoustic instruments and electronic elements, they bridge the gap between producer and live band. This results in a very natural, organic sound, whilst still retaining the energy associated with deep house and melodic techno. Onstage, drums, guitar and diverse percussion are blended with synths and sequencers, creating a performance that works as well in a club as it does in concert.

I browsed their growing catalog in Apple Music – and one after another – their music hit me in a pleasing and atmospheric way. This is not conventional background working music. It possesses more of a kick and musicianship than that. It’s interesting without being dance or trance music (think Charlotte de Witte). This is stuff to fill up an environment and walk your thoughts along.
And falling in love with Regensburg (I could walk around in my medieval hat without anyone batting an eye), I’d like to think I am supporting the citizens of that magnificent city in a small way by promoting a band of creatives hailing from it’s cobbled streets.
Check them out if you like electronic music on any level, you may find yourself living in your own movie with futuristic soundtrack.
