Apple has released the M4 Mac Mini with the power button tucked away neatly on the bottom surface. Apple also released the updated Magic Mouse 2 with USB-C… with the USB-C port on the bottom, like its Lightning predecessor. And it’s perfectly alright.
How often do you charge your mouse? Once every two months? And after 5 minutes you have a solid day’s charge if needed. Its position keeps the design integrity of the mouse and prevents the ability to use the mouse essentially wired and charging all the time. This would not be good for the battery health and it would produce needless drag from the tether.
How often do you restart your Mac? Once or twice a year (not including a MacOS update). Placing that button on the bottom corner is great unless you’re going to rack these up in a render farm or something. That might cause some issue – but too much. Align them the same way and you’ll know where the control is and can reach for it (potentially).
Give them a go. Apple knows what it’s doing.
