After all this time.

I have been working remotely for ages now. When things first began and we couldn’t be in the office, I used to work on the couch. In my den in a leather chair. At my kitchen table. On my deck. Things in my life changed and I ended up at the end of a dining room table. Not ideal but it worked.

After all this time, I am still at the dining room table – no dedicated desk. No secondary monitor from work (I have several external displays that I hook up to my MacBook Pro). A huge desk pad and a mouse pad. A Magic Trackpad. I honestly need to build a dedicated space where I can be more productive, have all my audio wants in one place, and to be more comfortable. I could have brought monitors home – no worries. I could have purchased a desk and shelves for my equipment – some proper and elegant lighting. Some hours plants. I didn’t and I am not sure why. Maybe I thought the situation would resolve itself quicker than it did? I suffer from my own lack of doing in this area.

My schedule is about to be Mondays and Fridays: work from home. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays work in the office from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Things may find adjustments are needed, but that is our plan for the moment. It’s quite flexible and I think it will work well. I just need something a little more permanent and official and dedicated at home to properly support my work efforts. That includes a separate soldering station just in case and not worry about bringing gear back and forth to and from work.
